The nest is well equipped with everything you should need to rest, eat and relax. Below you will find information of what amenities you have at the hut to maximize your comfort during your stay. If there’s anything you think you will need beyond this please let us know and we will do our best to accommodate you.
Please note that The Nest is designed for a grown up get away and is not set up for children.
The Nest Amenities
The Bedroom has a king size bed with medium firmness memory foam mattress and sumptuous bedding.
We have chosen fiber duvets and pillows so that our vegan guests and those with allergies are catered for by not having feathers in the bedding.
There is a bedside table and large draw under the bed for storage of your bags and cloths. We recommend traveling light as the hut is a little walk from the car parking when the ground is wet, and storage is limited.
There are plugs for USB cables and phone charging throughout the Shepherds hut.
Due to the hut running on solar power hair dryers and straighteners are strictly NOT allowed as they will blow the electrics
The Bedroom
The bathroom has a large good quality shower, small sink and composting toilet.
The toilet is a modern state of the art composting loo, without the need for messy saw dust and eliminates smells. It’s really easy and hygienic to use and won’t need emptying for stays less than 5 days. Please be sure to read the guide on use when you arrive.
We have provided plenty of towels and some cosy bathrobes for your use during your stay.
You’ll also find shampoo, conditioner, hand soap and shower gel. We use sustainably produced products that are eco and animal friendly.
The Bathroom
The Kitchen & Living Space is in the center of the hut with large glass double doors that go out on to the decking so you can enjoy the amazing view even from inside if it’s wet out.
The is a 2 ring gas hob and small kitchen sink with a frying pan, two saucepans and a gas kettle.
There are plenty of utensils for cooking, cheese grater, garlic crusher, scissors, knifes and serving dishes. I was keen for the hut to be as well equipped as possible so you can enjoy switching off from the world completely and no need to venture out if you don’t want to.
Of course there’s the other essentials such as plates, cups, and glasses.
There is a small 40L fridge. I I recommend not over stocking on food that needs storing in the fridge especially in the summer until you know the capacity.
You’ll find a small sofa and small fold up table and chair stored in the under the hut storage for eating inside if the weather is bad.
The Kitchen & Living Space
The Nest has decking to the front of the hut. Enough space for sunbathing or some yoga. There is a fire pit and low table and floor cushions for outside dining
When the field isn’t being used for hay, sheep and cows may graze it so you will occasionally have some friendly company. The hut area is fenced off to protect it from them getting too close so please close the gate to keep the hut protected.
The Nest is in a field next to the camping field and though accessed through the main camping field it’s usually quiet and there is plenty if distance between the hut and the campers so it is very private. Quiet time is from 11pm when no loud music is allowed to be played. There is a trolley at the parking bay to help transfer your things to the shepherds hut.
The Outside Space
You’ll find a small selection of games and art materials at the hut that you are welcome to use to help you unwind and relax. Reconnect to your inner child and each other. Especially fun on a wet day by the fire.
There are pencil water colors and pencils. Coloring books, a small selection of games including scrabble, chess, and cards.
There is also a communal sketch pad we like to use as a guest book so feel free to doodle what you see and write a note or poem about your stay …Stick people very welcome :O)
unwinding with play
Due to the remote location, The Nest is not suitable for those with mobility issues. When the ground is wet you’ll need to park 5-10 minute walk up a small hill. During dry weather parking is close by.
The hut is accessed down the private farm track from a quiet lane. We’ll let you know where to park leading up to your booking depending on the weather and land. There’s also an additional toilet in the campsite field by the gate if for any reason you needed it or prefer to use the toilet more privately than in the hut. This is not ours but is available for use.
We provide a trolley to help get your things to the hut but do recommend packing light and bringing walking boots or wellies and have them accessible in case you need them on arrival. When you book you’ll be sent full instructions on finding the hut using the What Three Words app as the postcode wont take you to the farm enterance.
